Dahab is a town in Egypt, located some 85 km (53 miles) N of Sharm el-Sheikh on the Gulf of Aqaba, near the S tip of Sinai. Once an isolated coastal village, the town turned into a hippie hangout in the 1980′s and developed something of an “alternative resort” in the 1990′s, mixing cheap accommodation, laid back lifestyle and “informal” tourism with luxury resort establishments by contrast.

Dahab’s atmosphere is very relaxing boasting a small bohemiam town centre where waterfront seafood restaurants offer lobster, red snapper and calamari. Nightlife is low key but notable with visitors normally enjoying a quiet drink in a bar or a stroll along the delightful promenade.

Much of Dahab’s tourist attraction lies within its self contained resort complexes where for many, there is little motivation in venturing outside the resort walls.

With its shallow and sheltered bay, stunning coral reefs, and an abundance of marine life, Dahab offers some of the red sea’s best shore diving and snorkelling. Dahab is also easily accessible for one of the world’s most adventurous dive sites, ‘The Blue Hole’ which is situated just 4km from Dahab’s shores.
